Will 94 fuel injectirs work in a 97? Xj6
I have a guy selling 5 new injectors, used maf, and centercaps for 100 bucks close by. I was hoping they would work since they are so cheap, nice to have spares. Checked on advancedautoparts.com and the part numbers are just one off, so I dont know if they would bolt in the same or have the same plug ins. Thanks fir the help.

Hi Mark,
I have combined your two threads into one. To answer your question, the '94 injectors will fit your '97 engine and will probably work. The specified fuel flow rate of the '94 injectors is 210 cc/minute compared to 220 cc/minute for the X300 injectors, but the ECM should be able to adapt to the slightly lower flow of the '94 injectors by simply extending their pulse duration. It's possible that mixing injector types could cause problems though. I can't recall if the Lucas Sagem-GEMS Engine Management System has the ability to adjust fueling for each cylinder individually. I would have to look that up.
I ran X300 injectors in our '93 XJ40 for a year or two with no problems. Here's a comparison I did back when I was researching injectors:

And here's how I cleaned and rebuilt our original injectors while the X300 injectors were installed in the car:

Thanks very much for the info. Wonder why the single pintle injector has so much more flow rate than the newer double hole versions? Maybe the dual hole versions are more efficient? Ill probably get the injectors as a back up in case one of mine dies. At least the car will run ok until I get the correct injector for it. Are the 97 model injectors the same as the 96? Ill have to go out and look at mine to check part numbers to verify it. I like your injector cleaning setup. I may try that myself.

Yes I can confirm that xj40 fuel injectors will work with an x300. I've been running xj40 injectors in my xj6 for the past 3 years. The original injectors that were on the x300 were causing misfires so the whole fuel rail along with the injectors were moved from the xj40 into the x300 and haven't had an issue since.
