1997 XJ6R. I have disassembled the master switch pack on the drivers door. Multi meter shows that the windows that are working (PS F&R, DS R) are all receiving 11 vlts to the motors. Checked this by using the pins to test voltage between the circuit board dodads under the silicon button pads. The drivers window and the P & D mirrors are only getting .8 volts (that's point 8). Any ideas? I had the same results with a borrowed working switch pack. BTW does the body module play any part in the operation of the mirrors, windows and seats? thanks - stu ps - copy of a post on another topic
I'm not sure it's as simple as switching 12V. I attached the schematic for a 1996, probably close enough to your 1997, to try to make sense. I've never had to trouble shoot these circuits, but there are quite a few solid state devices in there that condition the 12v signal that ultimately gets to the motor. If you are getting the same 0.8v on all output lines, you may want to look and some commonality in the switching.
Good luck.
If you have installed a known working switch pack the fault must lie elsewhere.
I don't have the wiring diagram for a 1997 XJR but looking at the diagrams for a 1996 the driver window control one touch logic and mirror control have a common +12V supply from fuse F6 in the LH heelboard. Other things powered from the same fuse are the driver and passenger seat movement and memory for seats, steering column and mirrors. Check for +12V at the switch pack for power at 23 and 24 in the diagrams below. Heelboard Fuse 6 +12V +12V Supply Window One Touch Logic +12V Supply Mirror Control
I'm going to go through every spade fuse in the car and make sure they are all intact. Probably should have done that weeks ago. Never suprized at what a wispy little 5 amp fuze can do to disable a modern car. Can't imagine what an even moderately competent mechanic would have hit me for. A thousand thanks.
