Default Wing mirrors: loose connections to the door

For the X300:

Is there documentation on how to tighten the connection between the wing mirrors and the doors themselves? The mirrors are tight at the hinge so the usual fix of tightening the 3 screws from the bottom won't really help me.

The problem is that the whole mirror assembly is loose at the connection to the door but it's not clear from the design how to get to whatever screws or bolts are holding it on. The driver's side mirror shows some slight movement but the passenger side is downright loose.

Help?

Thanks,
Rhett

Rhett,

The mirror assembly is secured with a single Torx (item 14) going through the door frame from the inside and into the mirror bracket:

Depending on spec, there will either be a small triangular blanking plate or a speaker on the inside.

There's a black plastic panel that looks like it's fastened with goop of some kind (picture attached). Should this panel just pull off or do I need to do something more elaborate first? Sorry if this is obvious but I'm afraid of breaking my car.

That does look as if someone has attacked it before!

To remove it safely, the Trim pad needs to come off the door. Here is the Service Manual section:

X300 Service Manual - Front Door Trim Pad.pdf

With the Trim pad removed, the triangular plastic blanking plate can be unclipped from the door frame.

Thank you. I successfully removed the veneer, the door handle surround, the two screws ans one plastic clip holding on the top panel but it's still firm around the circular air hole.

Does it slide up or to the right or left? Any input?

Thanks again..,

UPDATE: found the little screw hidden under the folds of the rubber seal around the air hole that isn't shown on the documentation. Got it all off, tightened the mirror and it all went back together. Thanks everyone!
