Would bad coil cause more problems if on cyl #1 1996 XJ6 ?

The X300 uses two-wire coils which leave much to be desired when it comes to fault detection. The circuitry in the ECU that detects coil problems is rudimentary at best. Don't trust the fault codes, swap known good coils for diagnostics.
