Default x300 - different clock types in different models

As the clock on my '95 X300 has failed (shock I hear you say) and a repair attempt has proved unsuccessful, I was looking on eBay for one. The types shown however are different than mine. Mine has 1 press switch on the right of the display for hazard and 1 on the left for door locking.
The types on eBay however have 2 press switches on the right of the display, 1 for hazard and another with the image of a door panel and on the left of the display, a 4 position rotary lighting switch.
Can someone tell me please if these clocks are interchangeable on all x300s?

I think those ones must have been made compatible with the front heated seats according to your description .I don't know about interchangeability though .

Thanks for that Cadillac. The switch next to the hazard definitely looks like the image of a door panel. Would have thought a heated seat switch would show a seat!
Thanks anyway.
By the way, your roots are showing!

The picture you show is yet another variation! My none-working one has the hazard & lock switches in the same position, but no seat heater switches.
Here is the link to the one on eBay which is different again!

Could it have something to do with the optional "deadlock" feature? Just guessing, obviously.

Thanks Doug. Not sure what you mean by the term 'deadlock'. Do you mean the feature whereby all the doors lock when moving out of park into a gear?
I find the left hand button marked 'lock' very useful and therefore I would be concerned that fitting another clock which does not have this button would mean I would lose the 'lock' button. If so, I'd rather do without the clock!
Until I decided to look around for a working clock I hadn't realised they weren't all basically the same.
Thanks again.

Default Different clock again

My car has a different version again - it is wider across the middle, the clock surround taking up the space where the two heated seat switches are in the picture above with a single plastic facia. It has the deadlock switch on the left and the hazards on the right as per the picture. I guess as my car is an Australian delivered model Jaguar figured we didn't need the heated seats ....

I'm not quite certain how the "deadlock" feature works, but it is different than the conventional "lock" button/feature that most of us have.

I *think* it prevents the other doors from unlocking when one door is opened. (?)

biffta, the pic you linked on Ebay is for a UK model that had adjustable headlamps. We didn't get that option here in the states.

There were 4 variations to the 95 - 97 X300 that I know of:
1) UK model with adjustable headlamps, no seat heaters
2) UK model with seat heaters, no adjustable headlamps
3) US model with seat heaters, no adjustable headlamps (shown in cadillac's pic)
4) US model with no seat heaters, no adjustable headlamps.

Hi Doug, I was assuming (perhaps wrongly) that it is the anti-carjack feature whereby as soon as the car is put into gear, all the doors lock.

No, I don't think so, as my car does that already and it doesn't have the "deadlock" feature.

Now my curiosity is really piqued. I'll have to find an answer. :-)

By picking some better brains and....ahem...consulting my own owner's manual, I have determined that the deadlocking feature, when fitted, prevents the doors from being opened from the inside release handles. So, if someone smashes a window and reaches inside they still cannot open the door.

It is activated by the remote control...no dashboard buttons involved.

Sorry for the wild goose chase :-)

Cheers
