x300 Fog lights
Hi,
Just got this car and cannot get my x300 xj6 fog lights working. Bulbs seem fine.. checked fuses.. swapped fog relay and fog switch lights up ok... rear fogs work fine. Any ideas what else it might be ?
Thanks.

The circuit for the fog lights starts at the switch, goes to the body processor module, to the relay and then to the foglights. Looks like the lights, fog lights and side marker all share the same ground. Sounds like it might be the module if you are certain the fuses, bulbs and relay are good.
Hi Drew,
Do you mean like a light control module ? I had one go in a 7 series bmw and the reverse lights wouldnt work (worked when lcm was changed ) Where abouts is that module ?
Thanks.

Looks like you are NEW, so WELCOME, your stay will be FUN, and educational.
Have a look under the car in the lower corner of the undertray area (if you still got one), where it meets the mudguard (wing, whatever), there are 2 loom plugs, one on each side of the vehicle, that is where the wiring goes, and these plugs are disconnected to remove the front bumper bar. Mine are yellow plugs, and when I unplugged them for bar removal the crud in there was bad.
So it may just be bad contacts in those plugs causing your grief.
The fact that the rears work indicates the modules are OK, in my opinion.

Thanks for the idea! I was doing a bit of research and i think the back fogs run off a rear module and the front fogs off a different module.. when this happened me before on the bmw what happened was water had corroded certain pins in the module and this was stopping certain function so I guess it could be that... is the module for fog lights in battery area in boot ? I cannot look at mine as car is currently in bodyshop getting a near rear arch welding in and painted
Thanks.
Thanks.
Having same problem with my x300. Don't know the location of the relays. Would like a fuse box "map" so I can check things out with some authority. I've been a 60's ponitac guy to this point. Thermo if you are out there you offered before to send via email. Here's my address fmfz12007@gmail.com. Any others who can help I can use it. Been a great car so far. Looks nice next to my 63 Bonneville convertible.
The stickies are your friends! "Electrical Diagram is early in the list, just ahead of "fog light replacement."

Might be resurrecting an old threat here...where are the rear fogs located? I'm not even sure if I have them on an X300...I have two fog switches on the dash. The front one works, the other one doesn't appear to do anything.
Yes you definitely have rear fogs, they are located within the rear tail-lamp cluster.
