Default X300 Glass headlight lenses. Does XJ8 fit XJ6

Afternoon everyone,
It appears my car was vandalized while parked at my office yesterday. (perks of working downtown)
Both left and right outboard lenses are cracked and smashed. My only guess would be vandalism as there could have been no way for me to have hit anything that would break both headlight lenses at the same time.

Anyways, I drive an XJ6. I've been searching for new glass lenses and i notice there are a surplus of lenses for the XJ8 (98-01). and they appear to be less expensive than the same part for a XJ6. there are also many more XJ8 parts cars out there from what i can see. My question is, can I use XJ8 headlight lenses on my XJ6? Will they fit? I assume they would.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. They are considered an upgrade in terms of lighting.

The sidelight is in the high beam unit instead of the low beam unit.

When you refer to "headlight lenses", if you mean just the glass then no.

The headlamps are a complete unit. XJ8 uses a different bulb and therefore a different connector. You need to get the complete units from an XJ8 (inner and outer - as Plums said the sidelight is in the inner unit on XJ8) with the plugs and wires.

You will need to remove the main connector and splice in your old one from the X300. This is a bit tricky as all the wires are black so you need to work out which one is which. Apart from that, it's very straight forward.
