Default X300 hose clamps

Greetings,
I want to know if the X300 was originally fitted at the factory with
wornm drive clamps or the spring clamps on the cooling hoses?
At our recent club concours, this question came up on originalty
with a heated debate ensuing so, I need to clear this up ;o)

Worm drive on all the cooling hoses. Very easy to prove, just go to the Jaguar parts list and it is clearly stated.

Here is a link to the JDHT page Engine Cooling System - Parts For XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Classic Parts UK

Jaguar did use some spring clips for certain hoses such as those to and from the purge valve.

Jaguar EPC is the definitive guide. Items 9 and 10 - Worm Drive Hose Clips:

Clearly visible in the diagram. Print it off and take it along to the next heated debate. They were confusing the X300 with the later X308 setup which does use spring clips.

The parts list calls for three of number 10 and one of number 9. In the diagram I only see two number 10 clamps. The number 9 clip, as drawn, looks like the third number 10 clamp.

So where is the third number 10 clamp?

Thanks very much Gents....that settles it then ;o)
There was some confusion regards the X300 because of the start time of Ford's ownership in Sept. 1990 which gave rise to the thought that some, possibly the later X300's had spring clips.

xjay8,

Glad you finally got your answer! Now, the question would seem to be, were the original worm drive clamps made by Norma....? :-)

Cheers,

Don
