I’ve had three different variants of x300 and x308 over the years but my most recent has a bizarre lights issue that I simply can’t track down !!
everything was working a month ago nearly at mot time after a four year lay up for the old girl ,but the other day I lost
side lights front and rear
rear lights
front fog lamps
number plate lights
initially I thought it was a bad earth at the battery main earth cable because it wasn’t the tight enough and wiggling it brought all my lights back on,i tightened the earth a little and all was well for a few days and now all these lights have gone again !!
ive changed light control module for a known good unit and that made no difference and I’ve been round all the earths I can see and checked all fuses and all is fine,I’m stumped 🤦♂️
Check that earth again to ensure that the thread isn't stripped causing it to work loose again. But dont just tighten it, remove it and clean everything properly, as in sandpaper /wire brush till it's all nice and shiny. Either way it sounds like an intermittent connection.
Its your lucky day. It's the light switch itself that needed to be replaced. Its not front or rear module. You can temporary bypass by use rear fog lamp signal until you find replacement. Read this. Ignore some of members' comments here that has nothing to do with the issue.
Left my lights on side light only all night and this morning all lights had come on so I suspected that the little light next to the switch warmed up and then something on the board expanded and made contact !!
removed board and wiggled the plugs and nope then tapped the resistors above the fog light switches with my finger and hey presto ,a loose resistor 👌🏻
heated it up to flow solder and then covered the resistor wires in epoxy and hey presto all sorted ,you guys are genia ❤️
