So today one of the cooling lines burst. Not sure which one yet (NBA4510BB or NBA4500BB). Figured we'd replace them both while we're at it. So far I've mostly found them only on ebay. Any suggestions of other possible suppliers? And how difficult are they to replace?
I have a V12 car and one of my oil cooler hoses burst several years ago and the replacement hoses were unbelievably expensive and also unavailable so I took both of my hoses to a local hydraulics workshop and had them re-hose them for about a tenth of the OEM replaement cost.
You dont need oil cooler on your non SC X300. Remove both and the cooler and fit a Jaguar bypass, or if you cant be bothered or dont have time getting one, just remove the oil lines block and bolt the oil filter housing directly to engine with some shorter bolts.
Thanks for this info. @watto700, I considered taking the old lines to a transmission shop to see if they can be rebuilt. That'll be option 1. For option 2, @katar83, so your saying the cooling is not required for a non super charged car, and I can just bypass/plug those lines? The cooler is part of the radiator and not a separate unit. These are for the automatic transmission (don't think I specified that in the OP). Would we still be safe to bypass this? Also, what type of transmission fluid should we be using? My local parts store could not find the type of fluid required for a 1996 x300?
Just a follow up. The issue was the transmission cooling lines. I forgot that many models have cooling lines for the engine as well. My apologies. As for the broken cooling lines, the break was in one of the rubber sections of the two lines. We were able to replace the rubber hoses on both lines with "6AN" 3/8" industrial rated line and better quality hose clamps from Amazon. A single 10" section was enough. I moved the original part number tags over as well for no particular reason. Photo included here.
