Default X300 Production questions

I have a US spec 1995 Xj6 SWB base car no sunroof - vin #SAJHX1748SC724325 - only 16k original miles has some body damage which is being repaired - normally I do not buy damaged cars but the miles and condition of the car are amazing and this car other than the damage is like a new car - so I decided to add it to my collection

the question I have is the base car SWB I know is a low volume model but when I look at the production numbers it shows only 1 built in 1994 and 253 in 1995 ... are the production numbers based on model year or actual production date? mine was built 09/94?

Thanks for any input

The chart is all mis-aligned, as can happen with a basic text file. The end figure of each row of data should align with the "Totals" label. That should straighten things out. Your car for example would then show 253 made in 1994, and my 7/1994 "1995" XJ12 6.0 having 483 made in 1994. You can then tell that the numbers are based on the calendar year of manufacture, not the Model Year as seen in the US.

+1

The numbers in the table appear to be taken from JAGUAR All the Cars by Nigel Thorley but tabulated incorrectly.

The US market has always preferred LWB Jaguar saloons just as it does Convertibles over Coupes for the two door models. The other LHD markets and RHD markets have a preference for SWB and overall production numbers of SWB vastly exceed LWB.

Looks like model years based on my 1995 (Canada) XJR, built 12/94, as the chart shows zero for 1994.

The columns are not aligned correctly. When you look at the chart move all the columns over to the left. XJR production in '94 = 1340
