Default X300 Steering problems

Hello everyone!

Primary:
An often addressed problem (but always without result, since the discussants always came off the topic):

Steering after cold start normal - after a few kilometers stiff! Does that know someone and its remedy?
Pump replaced overhauled, steering gear around 2000 kilometers old (new part)! OK ... maybe the bad luck with again faulty pump would be possible. However, I read in various forums that the problem continued to occur even with new pumps.

Are there any other components that could influence the steering effort?

Secondly:
Speedometer remains dark when the light is on. Likewise, climate keys and window switch in door.
Replaced / tested dimmer switch and module for interior lighting LXF 6490AA, fuses, etc.
No success: Turn the light switch and the above things stay dark.
Odometer, clock, climate display, however, shine!

Thank you in advance for tips and maybe you have ever had the experience and found a solution?

Greetings Christof (Austria) ...sorry for my bad English

On some models of the X300 it has speed variable steering and may be stuck in the high speed restricted mode

G'day Christof,

As well as all the good information from Lady P check the electrical plug on the steering rack itself, they can sometimes become loose if not seated properly after having work done on the steering rack

Cheers,
Jeff.
