My 96 xj6 4.0 isnt showing overheating but only cold air is blowing out of any vents regardless of which temp it is set at. Any ideas?

Plus quite a lot of other "no heat" threads. If you go to the advanced search, deselect "Search all open Forums", select X300 forum, type "heater" in the keywords & you will find answers to the same query.

On my car, the auxiliary coolant pump was out, due to worn brushes. I pulled it off, found some R.C. toy brushes at the hobby shop, and replaced them. Heater worked fine after that.

.

15" x .15" x .35" BRUSH 33A (eurtonelectric.com)

Odds are this , so might as well get them on the way to you

There are some relays and fuses involved

There is a climate control bite test in this video someone made , but it doesn't see everything but it does cover the bases

The writen steps are on page 110 of the Jaguar 703 Doc

www.jagrepair.com/images/Training Guides/703_SG.pdf

Codes are here

14-10 (jagrepair.com)

You can tap on the electric heater pump lightly ( rubber mountings ) and the brushes may come free to make contact but is a sign the brushes need to be replaced

I replaced my thermostat got no bueno.
others have repoted that is the simple easy fix for them.

i replaced the brushes in my aux heater pump motor and voila! HEAT!
2 x 4x4x10mm brushes were used. by memory i very slightly filed/sanded them so they fit well and moved.
a little fidly to replace but overall a cheap easy repair.
