Default XJ6 throttle bodies

Are 95 and 96 XJ6 throttle bodies interchangeable? I've got a 96 that won't start and a 95 parts car with low mileage since its throttle body was last cleaned.

Before I personally was to swap TB bodies I would verify some other things first :

Place your finger on the # 1 fuel pump relay and feel for it to click on then off after 4 seconds as you rotate the key to the on before start position .. Listen for the fuel pump at the same time . The relay will click on a 3rd time when the CKPS sees engine rotation .

Place your finger on the king relays on the corner of each fuse box and verify they click with key rotation . This includes both heelboard fuse boxes . The left engine fuse box relay is a horn relay only and can be used as a swapping spare .

In a one person operation you can keep the key in the on position and remove and put back in the relays and feel for it to click .

Feel for the specific large ECU controlled relay to click or just swap with the fog light relay .

below 11.4 volts the starter will rotate but not enough voltage to run the ECU for ignition .

Are you putting the engine in a bore wash condition where you're loosing you're compression for a light off ?

Old fuel ?

Do you get a single cylinder to fire off ?

Clogged fuel filter ?

Jumper the 2 white wires on the inertia switch with a paper clip .

Security ECU fuse installed ?

Thanks for your list. I've tried most of your suggestions with no luck yet. Sill gotta change the fuel filter - I've cracked a line at the engine and got squirting gas, so that might not be not an issue.

I've removed the plugs and dribbled Marvel Mystery oil into the cylinders to forestall cylinder wash.

I don't know that I have an ECU security fuse. Where would it be located?

Again thanks for the info you've already provided.

In case the FPR is failing to the low side below the 43 PSI during the start sequence someone pinched their return line to increase the fuel pressure for a successful test .

In a trapped fuel line pressure test you will eventual show pressure with a partially clogged filter but not the pressure and volume amount needed .

Security ECU fuse is sometimes removed during storage if that's your case .

See page 23

Have you verified you have ignition with some starter fluid ?
