Unhappy XJR O2 sensors-Bad and Expensive

So my O2 sensors are bad and called Jaguar dealer for parts qoute. It came out to $3000. That half the car's value. So my question is can I use the cheap universal sensors to replace the current? Or any other Ideas.

Not sure how many 02 sensors the xjr has, 2 upstream and 2 downstream?

Very unlikely that all of them are bad.

Rock Auto has an exact fit replacement, according to their site, at $152.00: 1997 JAGUAR XJR Oxygen Sensor

No, you can't use "universal" sensors. You need titania sensors but, as mentioned, do some shopping around for lower priced choices. I think you might find 'em for as little as $80-$100 each.

I also I agree that all four being faulty is stretching things a bit....although it's technically possible. What are the symtpoms, trouble codes, etc?

There are other possible faults that can might make an oxygen sensor seem bad when it isn't.

If you replace 'em make darn sure you don't get the connectors mixed up.

Cheers

The titanium dioxide [titania] sensors are rather robust in operation, except when it comes to shock. Over tightening or dropping a catalyst with the sensors still in it will waste them for sure. Other than that I've never seen all the AJ16 sensors needing to be replaced at once. Who/how was that determination made??

You can get them for about $60-$80 from Amazon or Rockauto.com
