Does anyone know what the transmission fluid capacity is for a 95-97 XJR (GM 4L80E transmission) after a fluid & filter change?

I collected about a gallon in the bucket and put a gallon back in. I have also heard that 4.5 quarts is the number. Having a hard time getting a solid read when hot off of the dipstick.

4.0 quarts usually does the trick.

After adding the 4.0 quarts drive the car a good 10-15 miles and recheck. The fluid has to be HOT for the final check.

I top-off right to 'Max' line because I remember a Jag bulletin suggesting to do so.
