Default XJR6 Operating Temperature Range

What is the normal operating temperature range for the XJR6? If I'm in Florida in 90 degree F heat in traffic with the A/C on how high should I expect the operating temp to be?

Thanks in advance.

It should not exceed 205 F under most conditions. My XJ6 typically runs at 191- 195, rarely over 201 in heavy traffic.

When I had an XJR/6 I never saw it get higher than 205ºF as shown on my scan tool....and that was only in high ambient heat, heavy traffic conditions. Usually about 190-200ºF, though

Cheers

I've always wondering this. During the summer my scan gauge reads at about 198-204F and now that it's fall/winter with about 50-60 ambient temp, my temps never go above 194-195F with a thermostat that doesn't open until 194F

What temperature is the termostat supposed to open at? My original one when I bought the car, it seems to open at 178 but when I had to replace it the only ones available were 194 and 197

That's good. It means the conditions and cooling capacity are such that the thermostat is actually regulating the operating temperature.....rather then merely dictating a minimum temperature.

Being mass produced an inexpensive they are not always precise but usually begin opening within a few degrees of rated temp. If it's a 194 then it probably starts to open at 190 or so.

The MINIMUM coolant temp is 80 Centigrade.
An Oxygen Orientation CANNOT be perform (using WDS or IDS) until the coolant temp reaches 80. The procedure will stall and wait until 80.

I have had to 'clamp off' a radiator hose to restrict flow just to perform the orientation when I was doing the R493 recalls. (back in the day)

The 'happy-place' operating temp seems to be between 80 and 95 Centigrade.
