Does anyone know if a Body Processor Module from the UK will work on a US car?

The info given from the UK seller states:

"XJ6 XJ12 XJR 1994-1997 (VIN Range 720125 through to 812255)"

My VIN is: 768761.

Thank you.

Stewart

Jaguar used multiple variations/programming of BPMs to suit market requirements and/or option content. I suspect the basic functions would be Ok but you might get some weirdness with respect to the security system, door locks, and such.

Others will chime in

There has to be hardware as well as programming differences to account for the multiplicity of BPM P/N's available for the various World markets. If Jaguar could have done all the configurations in programming, they would certainly have chosen to go with a single BPM.

I think the vast array of BPM's must be because of the different security system requirements in the various countries.

Good to hear you sourced one in the US.

Stewart did you source a brand new one or a used one? Have you install it and did it work for your car? From most of those being service in our shop those parts are coded/programmed for an specific vehicle and will not work on a different unit.
hope your issue have been resolved.

Hi. The part will be here on Monday. I hope that it will work. I've been told by a local X300 expert that it is plug and play. He's never steered my wrong, but anything is possible I suppose.

If it doesn't work, how does one program this part?

Oh yeah, thank you for your input. I appreciate all the help I can get, as this my wife's daily driver.

Should work. One of the members here wanted daytime running lights, so I sourced him a Canadian BPM for his US car and it was plug and play and he now had DRL's.

Yep, they are plug-and-play, but...

Yep, that was me, and the Canadian BPM physically and functionally was completely plug-and-play into my 1997 USA spec XJR. As far as I can tell the only thing that changed functionally was enabling the daytime running lights (DRL) which was my goal. My substitution worked perfectly and no issues have arisen.

The following thread talks about this effort and touches on BPM interchangeability:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...r-x300-126943/

Now that being said, I suspect all the various market/region BPMs are physically plug-and-play and will slide right in and hook up to the harness, but as mentioned earlier the functions such as security, lighting and other interrelated BPM functionality with other processors may vary widely. So one would have to check the features and wiring for a given region's model to get a good idea of what may be impacted.

Installing something as close in function as a Canadian to USA car was a relatively safe bet. But going from one continent or even country in Europe may have different considerations.

Succinctly, if I were replacing my BPM and were not looking to change any function, I'd do my best if possible to find the correct part number for my make/model/region so as not to risk some unintended malfunction.
