Default $20 Fog Light Replacement

After getting my XJ8 repainted I just could not bring myself to bolting the sandblasted fog lights back on. After checking on the OEM prices I then started looking at the aftermarket. Since the factory fog lamp mounts directly to the fascia, I could not figure out how to mount aftermarket lights without having to fab up brackets.

Then in a moment of clarity I figured it out.....

Here's what I started with.

Default A real Hatchet Job

I found a set of 3.25" round lights and decided to use the old fog light body as the mount.

Here's how I made it work....

1. Whacked the lens with a chipping hammer to break it.
2. Picked the glass pieces from the edge.
3. Took a bunch of measurements to line up the light.
4. Drilled mounting holes in the old reflector.
5. Bolted in and squared up the new light assembly.
6. Reinstalled the fog lamp in the Fascia.
7. Spliced into the factory wiring.

The fit in the hole is perfect and the lamp can be aimed using the factory adjuster.

For those that have deeper pockets a higher end lamp can be used.
