Default 01 VDP S/C bites the dust, now what to do?

About a month ago I put my 01 SVP into an embankment on a rainy/icy drive home late night. I knew I did some good damage to the front but insisted I get the car back and try to save it. Now I've had the car at home over the past two weeks it is obvious that either the wreck was wayy worse than I estimated, or the trucker did some significant damage moving it off highway, into lot and back on driveway, there is no saving it. The main exterior skin has multiple dents and areas of buckling and the front frame was completely crushed. So now it's decision time. I had planned on going big and keeping the car together but now thats dead I'm wondering what to do. The car was in very good shape before it died, almost every wear item or part had been replaced. New bilsteins, shock mounts, bushings, ball joints, brakes, and even new Michelins recently. I have an almost perfect Ivory Vanden plas interior, lambswool mats, new headliner, very nice seats with all good trim pieces and lots of wood. Motor has 110k with new tensioners, new fuel pumps, battery a month old.
My two real options are to buy an XJR that needs a motor-trans and swap mine in. Which I would then likely have to part out the interior and everything else not needed.
Sell the car as is if I can find a buyer and walk away from the whole thing.
A third option i had considered was buying a similar color VDP with blown motor ans swapping everthing over, though it seems the wiring from NA-SC would be a deal breaker.

I dont want this car to take up another year or two of garage space just sitting as parts. I plan to get something similar soon either I'll fix or buy working. Any thoughts?

Before It died.

So sorry you lost your pride and joy! I’ve been there and done that as well.
If you have the R1 brembo brakes I’ll buy them off you. I know there’s another member on here needing a supercharged engine for his car. You know the wheels will sell quick. I know it’s a lot to take in seeing where it was and where it is now but at least you can help others on here.
Again, sorry about your loss.

As Addicted said, sorry to hear about this, I know she was well kept by you.

If you part her out and your shift indication plate isn't scratched, I'd be interested?

I'm so sorry this happened to such a gorgeous car, but I'm thankful you weren't seriously injured.

If you decide you will part it out, I will move your post to the Marketplace to keep you out of trouble with the forum. I'm going to PM you with a part inquiry.

Cheers,

Don

Sorry about that, glad you're ok. I imagine with parting it out, you could buy another. My dad is interested in the engine if you part it out.

Thanks for replies.
I'm leaning towards parting it out if I can sell things together instead of piece by piece. I'm still dealing with insurance at the moment to get the correct "value" of the car. As we all know almost 20 year old SVP are almost impossible to comp. so they try and use a VDP and do not understand the difference the S/C engine makes. ---In 2001 MSRP was $15k more-- Once I get past this I'll be off to the races, an XJR has caught my eye recently but will see.

Quick update:
Since the accident I havent been able to get past feeling of how the back end let go. I had recently had a 4 wheel alignment done at a local shop about a week before as well as a new axle nut after fixing a rear wheel bearing. I've read a number of post here about importance of new axle nuts and proper installation and without an impact at home to crank to 280 lb./ft I stressed procedure to shop about installation. Long story short, it looks like the new axle nut has/had backed off the axle and the rear wheel has a lot of play in it. I can't prove that this was a contributing factor to losing control of the back end, nor can I prove any fault but it would make sense. I'm just going to chalk this up to life and move on.

PSA for all those working on rear suspension to be very thorough with this in particular.

I'll repost this in Marketplace soon to part out.

I sent you a PM, but there's an '03 XJR on BAT at the moment....located in Chicago area...close to home, I guess. 45K miles.

Also a 24K mile 1996 in California.
