The intake tube cleans up well on its own, but I just use WD40 on the hoses and plastics. WD40 is a better cleaner and shine product than what people think its for. Its not a true lubricant, its a solvent for water displacement, invented for NASA...thus WD and 40 being the 40th formula of it. But it works great cleaning grime and leaving a very appreciable finish....THANKS NASA!
Ok good to know!
So not just good as a salad topping for in-laws..
I'll try it on the other Plastic parts..
I've always used ,Armor All Trim & Plastic restore. Works great on the volvo trim and last about a year.. Under the hood I been using Meguiars Vinyl and rubber cleaner ,protectant - Marine/RV. Used it for years on my cars, boat... Doesn't leave a sticky residue.
Thank

ArmorAll has become so expensive, I use CarBrite WET. It is around $24 a gallon and you dilute it 50-50 with water which makes it about half the price of Armorall and it works better and last longer. https://www.carbrite.com/products/Ex...Dressings/WET/
Good morning guys and gals...
I want to install the harmonic balancer back on , from what I read the tool that was installed to hold the flywheel for timing has to be removed 1st.
Some have used a bolt or pry bar to hold the flywheel. . I kinda get that but from where ?
Is that Thu the access hole that had the rubber stop in it right by the hole for the tool ?
Definitely remove the crank positioning tool from the flywheel, and you need to remove the two camshaft locating bars too.
To install the harmonic balancer, liberally lubricate the crank seal, then simply align the harmonic balancer with the keyway, push it into position (don't forget the very thin rubber "O" ring that goes inside the harmonic balancer) then install the crank bolt, when ready to fully tighten the crank bolt (to it's massive 275ftlbs) simply use the same large crankshaft holding tool that you used to undo the crank bolt.

That's done ,cam covers back on oil pan back on.
What keyway? O-ring replaced and oiled. I now have a 3/4 " torque wrench.
what about making sure the crankshaft doesn't move? Thought that was a big deal and why people are using pry bars or bolts to hold the flywheel ? Or am I just misreading it?
The keyway in the crankshaft that aligns the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft............item #2 in this diagram.

That's what the large crank holding tool that you have is for, it holds the harmonic balancer, which is keyed to the crankshaft, while you tighten the crank bolt to 275ftlbs.
Ok i checked..
I used the mirror and a pick just in case it got sheared off and I couldn't see it... I'm pretty sure there's no key way or ever was.
I thought it was held on by the friction of that ring that compression ring
Look at your harmonic balancer piece 12 in CK's detail, you should have a slot in the crank insert hole where the key would align. Its easy for the key to fall out with cam alignment being its underneath.

MrJ, hmmm, maybe I am confusing the key for locating the crankshaft timing gears, and maybe there is no keyway for the harmonic balancer? But usually balancers are specifically aligned, not allowed to be randomly placed in any position.
But now I think of it, the harmonic balancer has a tapered cone which would not allow for a keyway or woodruff key.
Difficult going from memory without the actual car/parts in front of me.
Sorry for the confusion..................but you do need to remove the alignment tools, and use the large crank holding tool to hold the crank while tightening the crank bolt. Basically the harmonic balancer is held by the large holding tool while the crankshaft is "pulled" towards the crank bolt and gripped by the tapered collar.
275ftlbs is A LOT of torque, you will need a socket wrench with a 6ft extension, and pull for all you are worth to get 275ft lbs.
