Default 03 Jaguar XJR trunk release issues

Our 03 XJR trunk button has stopped working. It opens just fine if you use the key, inside release or the key fob. The trunk lights have also stopped working (although I believe that is a wiring issue as for a while they would work depending on where you were with the height of the boot lid. Figured my first step would be to verify that the fuses for the button are working fine same with the boot light but can't seem to find the fuse on the diagrams in the book. Any thoughts aside from pulling 'em all. I'm guessing it would be in the trunk box right? Also anybody have a diagram of the trunk as if it is a ground issue I could see it being common to both.

The problem is in the right or passenger trunk hinge. If you remove the plastic cover you will find a bundle of wires following the trunk hinge curve. The constant open/close flexes and breaks wires in the bundle. Untape the bundle an using pins inserted in the wires you can check continuity and identify the broken ones.

Do you think that is the problem for the trunk release button as well? Kinda figured that would be another issue so before I opened it up wanted to do the KISS things like fuses. I realize that a broken wire is likely the lighting issue but flashlights are cheap and my wiring skills aren't really great.

The trunk release button should be in that bundle also.
