Default Luggage compartment light

Hi X308 veterans:

Both luggage compartment lights do not come on but both bulbs are intact.

I cannot locate which fuse and/or relay supplies power to them from both the Drivers Handbook and the Vehicle Care Handbook. Please enlighten me with your experience. TIA.

Download Service Manual from Stickies; go to Electrical section; each fuse box location is shown. You may want to also download the Wiring Diagram for your MY, Watch LHD vs RHD.

Best wishes,

Ken

If you are talking about XJ8 (and not XK8), there is a micro switch in the latch (the lid side) which may have failed or got stuck. I had the same problem with the boot lights on my 1999 Super V8. I found that there was power coming to the micro switch bot nothing out. Pressing the micro switch plunger rapidly by hand a number of times made it work again.

If you don't have power coming to the micro switch, check the wiring inside the plastic cover over the right boot lid "U" arm - you may find a broken wire.
