Default Replacing front shocks

: OK - am I missing something when it comes to replacing the front shocks? I have taken off the upper shock housing, but I can’t seem to slide out the shock. Do I have to remove the sway bar end links?

ed: figured out. You need to compress the shock

Took me a while to figure that out too, push it up fully to compress, then remove it quickly. To refit compress the shock fully, then quickly stick it into the top mount before it expands again. Like most things, its easy when you know how

let me tell you how much of a PITA it is so do on cold shocks.

A few bumps and scraps later, front shocks done. Bump stops look like they were replaced recently.

I agree there. Compressing them and giving yourself those precious seconds to get them in place is a trick. I also found, that even one last inch of drop in the suspension travel makes a world of difference!
