Default VDP S/C Replacing adaptive shocks with XJR shocks

I just bought a 2001 VDP Supercharged ( beautiful car) with 78,000 miles and the suspension feels very floaty and worn out. The car has the electronic adaptive shocks that are very expensive to replace if needed, (not sure yet as there are no suspenison fault messages showing).

I would like to install the Bilsteins from the XJR to firm up the ride and was wondering if anyone has done this. Do you know if it would be necessary to trick the supsension computer to believe the adaptive shocks are still in place.

I have read many posts on the various supenision bushings that also likely need replacement and plan to change them out as well

thank you for any help

Ed

you unplug the connector from the cats system module for the shocks and thats it to go to non adaptive shocks...no cats fault message

thank you for your help,

would you recommend I go this route - I would like to have the firmest shocks possible while retaining the stock springs?

Thank you Brutal. I want to take precautions that the springs do not shoot out - will standard spring compressors work? should I also cable the spring to the frame for safety?

I appreciate your expertise

you dont unbolt enough to release spings to remove front shock and rears are real fun. personally I would just buy the shocks you want and have them installed

I would just disconnect the cats system....when the current stops going to the shocks the ride gets plenty firm. I did that for months unintentionally.
