trunk release & gas cover release?
i just got a 88 xj6 last week for $600, the trunk lock doesnt work and the lock cylinder is broken. So when I got it it wouldn’t lock…oh well no big deal right now. Well I went to open it the other day and it wouldn’t open for some unknown reason. To make things worse I never could find how to open the gas cover so I was pulling a lever from inside the trunk. I have a quarter of a tank before I have to start getting creative. I don’t have the owners manual so I really need some help with finding these releases.

Wish I could help but my gas vocer doesn't lock if the car is unlocked.
Since it's urgent try jog-lovers.org alot more people on there own the older models, most people on this site just own x and s types

for $600. you can't complain. try removing the license plate first, there will be 4 screw holes, using very thin needlenose pliers and flashlight, you might see the locking lever through one of the holes, try to grab it and pull up or down on it, it might get the trunk open. Very slow and tedious but worth a try.
