Hello,
I have a Jag jx8 vdp and when i turn the light setting to auto, the lights would come on for the odemeter reading, radio light and the light on the dash. The centre system such as heated seats, and ac controls, the lights would not turn on. Also, when I put it on hi beam with the auto setting on, when i turn on the left or right signal, the same problem happens with the hi beams going off.

I'm going to venture a guess that it's the wiring in the turn signal stalk shorting out. I've read on this forum several times that over time this can happen. Don't really know how to inspect or repair it, though. Good luck. My auto setting doesn't work, so I've taken the easy way out and manually turn on my lights, but I don't seem to have the issues that you're having -- you probably should check it out before it gets worse.
