03 XJR water in trunk
So my trunk has been a little ont the wet side all winter (thought it might have just been from a cold winter with lots of skiing and wet stuff going in there but today I decided that probably isn't the cause). So my upolstery trip piece a few inches to the rear of the cd player is damp today as is the bottom of the upolstery card that hides the gas tank (the whole away across. A little bit of residual water on the spare tire etc. No reall evidence of leaks, condition fo the seal is good. Seems odd that water would run down the upper side of the well and then dispate all the way across the fuel card as my first thought was maybe it is a bad seal on ther rear tailight on that side. Any thoughts on what it may be? It has been damp enough in there that I do have some surface rust taking route where the hitch went in and also under the battery so I would like to nip it in the bud and put a coat of naval jelly on the spots.
Well today after hosing the tunk and rear lights down every so often for a week to no water I opened the trunk (without the rear car and "floor" pieces installed there was a puddle the entire length of the ledge the floor piece sits on by the fuel tank so I got the hose out again and this time noticed some drips coming out of the side card below the cd player. Well turns out my fuel door drain hose had come completely off the rubber. I simply wasn't getting enough water into the fueling area for it to run down the insulation and soak the door car prior.
