Perhaps you have missed a fastener or some other part of the procedure.

One of the stickies ought to include a download location for JTIS if you search for it.

What signs have led you to believe that the coupler is on the way out?

There are dowels. I've disconnected the throttle elbow and bypass valve, also got the throttle body away too, basically you have to get a bit of stuff clear to remove it. You also have to take the thermostat housing off and pull the hoses down to get it clear and out. It's worthwhile doing this as the egr valve on the back of the elbow is usually full of gunk and the TB would benefit from a cleanup also.

Are replacing the coupler and bearings? If you strip the nose off first, make sure you grease the needle bearings with some hi temp grease - another thing, if the paint is flaking on the rotors, you can strip the rest off without loss of performance, I polished mine after porting it. Hope that helps a little, it's not an easy job. takes me a day of plodding to get it out and back in.
