2001 XJR - low maximum throttle position sensor value solved
Hoping this helps someone looking for fixes to their low throttle position. At WOT (or so I thought), I was getting 64% TP. Throttle cable nice and tight when closed. Of course I was hoping for the 'easy' stretched cable readjust job...
Went to look at the kickdown switch behind the accelerator and it was incredibly wobbly. It was sitting almost at the end of the threaded bolt it mounts to! Pushed it home, rotated it to lock it in and was able to reach 100% throttle position and kick down now kicks down (I guess it does anyway, probably need to check the switch operation with an Ohmmeter).
Took it out for a drive which got more and more spirited... Until the gearbox wouldn't go into a gear and while in D would just happily rev to the limiter while coasting. Pulled over, went between D,P,R,D and drove fine after that. P0730 stored... That's for another thread.
Hope this helps you.
