Default 2002 jaguar super v8 steering rack calibration spec?

Hi my shop is struggling with finding the correct calibration spec for a new OEM steering rack. Their calibration tool does not have my 2002 Jaguar V8 spec.We installed a new OEM MNE3901AAE Rack and pinion. This issue I am having is the new rack and pinion is stiff from 10:00 to 2:00 and then easy to turn before 10:00 and after 2:00. My shop seems to think it’s a calibration problem? I am trying the determine what is going on? Thanks again Appreciate any help.
Cheers!

Steering rack calibration ? What do you mean exactly ? It is not electrical powersteering rack so there is no adaptations to make, even with the speed reducing model.

Do you mean wheel aligment values ?

You have to love automatic spell check…

Unless, of course, you’re trying to tell us our cars really do have their own opinion on where they should be going?

And, of course, if that opinion were to include “farther and faster” as a matter of course, it might be hard to prove you wrong.

With the tiny space due to the ancient layout this website and not cell phone display friendly. I needed to blame the website design... Lol

Something wrong with the dynamic power steering maybe? I forget the name, but the device that increases power steering at low speeds and cuts it out at high speeds.

No offense, but are you sure you got the correct rack and pinion as new OEM? I think the part was long gone out of products as brand new.

My 2 X308s both have the rack and pinion rebuilt by Detroit axle.

Please check the lower steering column universal joint. When one of the bearing cups is sticking it will make the steering wheel stiff to turn partially in 360deg of steering wheel rotation. Feel is then firstly stiff and suddenly lighter and then again stiffer.

Can you please go into more detail on this? What do you mean by bearing cups sticking? Thank you

I had that on a LR, it's very odd to drive with.
