Hello, we are replacing the inner and outer tie rods on a 2003 VDP and it looks like there is no jam nut between the inner and outer tie rods. Does it come like that from the factory? nothing looks like it has been touched before in this area. The new inner tie rods come with jam nuts. Should i be installing jam nuts? There is a bit of play in one inner tie rod. thanks

 

I didn't think there was a jam nut on mine, either, but the damn thing wouldn't rotate and I had to cut it off with a cutoff wheel. Use the Jam nuts on the new one. Replacing the inners is a good move. People pay big bucks for new racks when inner tie rods would probably fix the problem... and its very easy to do.
