Default 5HP-24-PR Question for 01 XJR

Gents, I am finally getting to look into the Transgo valve upgrade and a have a basic question on this necessary upgrade.

Asking as searching through the forum I am only coming up with this part#, but the detail for this part mentions ‘Fits: ZF5HP-24 Equipped Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Range Rover Vehicles’ and believe there is a Mercedes transmission. Just looking for clarification so I get the right part ordered and get this enhancement sorted for my 01 XJR.

ALL 4.0 liter SuperCharged X100/X308 use the W5A580 (722.6) gearbox.

@ Motocarman

Thanks. Pardon my ignorance, so can you advise if the transgo 5HP-24-PR valve will be compatible with the W5A580 (722.6) gearbox.

Yes, as per Bob, the X308 non-supercharged XJ8 has the ZF 5HP-24 automatic gearbox, which benefits from the Transgo valve. Your supercharged 01 XJR has the more sturdy and more reliable W5A580 automatic gearbox, and as far as I am aware has no need of an upgraded pressure relief valve.

If you just HAVE-to-HAVE a valve body upgrade you might consider the 'blue-top' solenoids?

Excuse my ignorance, but why do you feel you need this work done to your valve assembly? As stated by Bob and CK...the W5 is a strong reliable trans, it was also used in Dodge and Merc Sprinter and Freightliner cargo vans... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merced...c_transmission
If I recall, this kit does not fit this trans. anyways.

Some people just can't stand factory OEM?

Keep fixing it until it breaks.

Lots of confusing comments here, but to pick up on those that have the correct answer.......

Your XJR has a Mercedes transmission.

No part for the ZF 5HP-24 will fit

end of story

Upgrade to the XJR transmission (Mercedes 722.6) is not necessary. If, however, you have some shifting issues and suspect the Valve Body (which would be on a very high mileage transmission), you can get a rebuilt valve body with some upgrades here: https://revmaxconverters.com/product...em-valve-body/.
