I have a trans fault message in my 98 xj8 with 120k on it. Runs perfect in first and reverse, but never shifts. Fuses and relays are fine.

I see I could pick up a trans ECU and see if that fixes the problem.

After owning 4 98-2000 xj8s I obviously have some spares lying around, inluding a later tranny 5HP24 ('99.) Some sources say they are compatible, some say not.

If they are I'd rather drop in the tranny for free, then look into the electronics if there is an issue.
