Having an issue with a beep coming from my 98 VDP. Car starts fine, but either after startup or if I just turn the key to on, the car goes through its normal chiming during the system check, then beeps 5 times, pauses, then beeps 5 times again, for 5-6 cycles, then goes away. Checked engine codes, only have a p1000 code remaining that will not erase, all fuses are good, relays check out. Did a hard reboot to the computer 3 times, still hasnt gone away. No warning messages in the dash. Any clue where to look for the source of my beep? Driving me nuts! Thanks in advance

 

I'm assuming your not hearing the backup sensor beeping (if so equipped)

Don't know about the beeping but if you will stop disconnecting the battery and trying to clear the P1000 you will finally get P1111 (readiness tests completed)

Many causes of intermittent beeping - do a forum search on 'beeping' to see if any match your exact symptoms.

 

Have your airbag module scanned for codes. When the airbag light is inoperable on the dash, the car will make a beeping sound on start up and periodically when driving. When you start your car, do you see a yellow airbag light turn on when the dash board is testing all of its lights? I think hidden somewhere in the owner's manual, they mention this.

 

Burmaz is correct. The book does mention that about every 30 mins or so the car will chime.
