Default 98 VDP Key & Remote questions

I have searched all of the threads trying to find an exact answer to my issue, some are close, but I have enough experience to know that all that will give me solutions that probably don't work. I bought a low miles 98 VDP. Only 1 key, and no remote. Going through the threads it looks like I can buy a blank with the chip off of Ebay, but a trip to the dealer is probably the next step. I'm in the DFW area, so if someone knows a better alternative, please let me know. Now for the remotes. From the threads it looks like there are 2 different PNs for my year. How can I find out which one I need? Thanks in advance for any help.

The correct remote keyfob transmitter for your car is

LJA2610AA (all buttons are rounded rectangles) The one on the LEFT

The later ones are

LJE2610AB (Lock button shaped like a sideways 'PACMAN', unlock is ROUND)

I have a WDS to configure the keys to your car but I am about 35 miles Northwest of Fort Worth. Some people don't like to drive that far.

I can READ your TIBBE key to tell you the CODE (eg. 12231213) but I cannot cut keys.

There are places on the internet that will cut a key from a picture or the CODE provided.

Bob,

Thanks for the info. I'm actually north of FTW myself, near Newark, so the drive is no big deal for me. Let me know the best way to reach you and I'll coordinate a trip up if that works for you.

Thanks again.

The early keyfob transmitters LJA2610AA (all buttons are rounded rectangles) are used on cars TO VIN F20644

The later cars FROM VIN F20645 use the LJE2610AB (Lock button shaped like a sideways 'PACMAN', unlock is ROUND)

Hope this clears it up.
