Unhappy 99 L/H Drive X308 Hood latch Stuck

My R/H hood latch is stuck. Left side releases. I was not having trouble until it decided not to release all of a sudden.

On my 87 XJ6, you were able to release the latch from inside the fender well.

I removed the fasteners holding the inner plastic fender guard, but do not see a way to get at the latch.

Anyone know how to get the latch to release?

Keep searching here, I've seen some posts about drilling a hole in the wheel well somewhere. Good luck!

Default Got the Hood Open

After removing the plastic inner fender well on Right side, Found the access hole found in the attached photo.

I used a common screwdriver with a 4" long blade. I could see what seemed like a slotted screw head in the access hole. Square hole seen in the photo is actually access to another round hole.

T turned what I thought was a screw head clockwise and the hood opened.

With the hood open, I removed the plastic trim that has the under bonnet tool box lid. I then was able to look under the latch with a mirror. Cable has a ball swaged on the end. Ball sits against a fork on the latch. Hopefully, you can see the detail in the photo.

Latch is secured with two TORX head screws on my 99.

I had looked at the under dash latch and found that both cables were still connected.

Default Bonnet Latch Part II

The cable has a plastic bushing that seems to have deteriorated that came loose from the latch.

I inserted the plastic bushing into the "y" of the fork and squeezed the fork end together slightly with pliers.

Reconnected latch. No further problem

Default 2002 jaguar

This is what I did in my case, you guys may find it helpful.

Good luck

Remove wheel arch you can see a small hole, if you not able to put a screw driver and push the locking mechanism you can move some of the metal around see next images

You can see the lock from here

Move some of the metal (easy) and push me mechanism and that's it should be able to open the hood now

You can see the problem in this case the cable has come apart from the lever and could not open it from the handle

You can just push the screw driver without having to move any of the metal, I did this for example.
