Default 99 XJ8 Airbag Warning Light

warning light stays on most of the time. I checked 5A fuse #10 in l/h rear kick panel, but it is intact. Also looked at ground connection in r/h rear kick panel.

on rare occasion light goes out when the car is started, but it will come on 30-40 seconds later.

Any suggestions?

When the light comes on does it flash for awhile and then glow solid?
You need to count the flashes. It should flash then stop for a second and then flash again. It will then hold steady for 3 to 5 seconds and then start flashing again. the flashing is the repair fault code.
If it flashes say 3 times, stops for a second and then flashes 4 times your code would be 34.
Let me know if it is flashing a code and we can go from there.

The light does not flash but once.

After the initial period where all the warning lights are on and go out, the light comes back on and stays on.

I tried this several times.

What is also interesting is that If I do not buckle the Driver's seat belt, the light does not come on. I tried this twice to confirm that was happening.

So, is this the female stationary half of the seat belt?

Posting because I want to follow, as I have the air bag light myself.
Mine, key on light comes on, light goes off then couple seconds later comes back and stays on.
From what I've read so far, that means the circuit is open somewhere. The thread I read suggest checking wiring and the column where the wires flex where the tilt/telescoping goes on.
I haven't had a chance to check yet.

Clock spring in the steering wheel is a common problem, but there are others.
Move the drivers seat to the extreme forward and up position. Turn the key off and
then back on. If the problem goes away, they problems in in the under seat wiring or to the side air bag. Auto Enginuity OBD2 reader with the Jag enhancement reads SRS codes.

Disconnect the battery when you are working around airbags.....

I had another stationary buckle, so I swapped it out. I also changed the seat module with one from a salvage yard because my seat would not tilt. Driver seat was not the original seat as it has a different color.

Changing the stationary buckle and the seat control module changed the frequency to only once in a while.

The warning light (amber) does not blink when it does come on.
