Default x type full beam light staying on but no lights

Hi guys

I have just bought an 02 x type and have a problem I am hoping you guys can assist with.

When I put my lights on to full the full beam light comes on the dashboard. This cannot be be turned on or off by pulling the stork. I can hear the relay making a noise in the glove box. The actual lights when put on full beam do not light up or flash whether on side lights or main, really hoping someone can help.

Many thanks in advance

Sounding like relay is having issues and is stuck internally. Replace the relay and see what you have then.

Hi
Update -it seems the previous owner had disconnected the main beam lights.

So the scenario now is the light on side lights - main beam flashes fine

However on main lights the full beam is on constantly, no way to pull the stalk to turn it off, any help appreciated,

Have tried chaning relay r9 and r1 to no avail

Thanks

I have now removed the stalk and the beam light goes off... could it be the stalk that's faulty? If it is surely it wouldn't work when only the side lights were on ... any help would be much appreciated.

gary, if the main beam light goes off and the main beams themselves go off, then this would confirm a bad multifunction stalk. if you have pulled the stalk and the main beams remain on when you turn on the side lights, then you are looking most likely at a wiring issue at the headlight assemblies. if the main beams remain on regardless of the side lights, then this would most likely be caused by a bad relay.

if you need more info, let me know.

Hi Thermo
Thanks for taking time to respond. With the stalk taken out, both the internal blue full beam light is off and the full beam headlights are off. From your info this would point to the stalk so I will order one from eBay. Thanks again and I will update the post for others once fitted cheers

Thermo you are a GOD !!!

Bought a used indicator stalk and fitted it, less than 5 minutes later all working - thank you very much from saving me a fortune on autoelectric bills.

I have started 2 more threads if you get chance to take a look at them !!

cheers

Gary
