Hi everyone
I can't seem to lock the front passenger door with the FOB or even by manually pushing down the lock indicator (on the corner of the door by window). When I try push down on it...it actually feels like it's binding and pops back up.
All the other doors lock and when I put my hand on the passenger door and hit the lock button...it feels/sounds like something is trying to happen inside the door.
Also, when I use the fob...i guess the car thinks everything is locked because if you open the passenger door...it will start the alarm.
I didn't want to pull the door panel until I exhausted anything simpler that I may be missing.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Pretty much guarantee you'll be pulling the door card, it doesn't fix itself, but they're damn good at breaking themselves. It could be a number of things from just the pull handle cable, to a bound assembly from lack of lubrication, perhaps a broken clip or bad plunger assembly. If the cable is stretched (common), you can remove the handle and let it hang to see if that relieves the binding and it locks. If so, the card still has to come off to replace it.
You can try a reset by disconnecting the battery letting the cables sit for a minute then bleeding off the excess energy by touching the ends together for about 15-30 seconds and reapplying them. But you'll lose seat, steering and radio settings.
Do you get the same issue when you do the All Door lock and unlock feature? When you take your key, insert it into the driver door barrel, turn to the right and hold it there until the cycle is complete. All the doors should unlock and windows come down, it will do the opposite rotating it to the left and holding it, again until the cycle is complete, everything will lock and windows go up.
There are folks parting out their cars in The Marketplace once you find your issue and if you need a part.
This is my drivers door when I did my handle seals to give you a live idea of what you'll be looking at, but the assembly is the same.
The drawn instruction detail is from the X308 Workshop Manual so you have the breakdown procedure.

So I tried locking and unlocking with the key as suggested. I noticed that the lock indicator was not up as far as the driver side when unlocked. I pulled it up by hand (about half a cm) and hit the fob lock and it locked! Then when I unlocked...it came up. But when I hit lock again...it wouldn't go down. So I pulled the indicator up again about the half cm...and then it will lock again. So, it's almost like it's not fully unlocking the door and getting stuck in a 3/4 unlock state?

Based on this, I would say that the latch assembly needs to be removed, cleaned, and re-lubed. Sounds like it's binding just enough that it won't travel the final few millimeters. Probably sticky old grease in the moving parts. Spray some PTFE dry lube when you get it cleaned up, so it doesn't attract dirt again.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull the door panel...haha.
Everytime I've pulled door panels on other vehicles..they just never seem to go back together as well as they were before I messed with them.

Yeah I get it. I've had them off several times, and it's not any worse than any other vehicle. You may want to order some new clips ahead of time though, because some will already be broken and you'll break a few more.
