Hello
I recently purchased a 99 xj8
The turn signal. Only right side. Comes on by itself randomly.
I have replaced the stalk, the body module and the dimmer.
It stays off for 3 days sometimes. Then randomly starts blinking to throw right.
I can't seem to figure out the issue.
If anyone can shed some light, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Ryan

When it's on, does it actually blink or does it just stay lit up? Without having any more information, I would pull the tail light assembly out and check all the bulbs. I've seen some weird things happen when people put the wrong bulbs in the socket. I'm not saying that's what you got going on but, that's a good place to start.
Thank you for the response.
When the blinker comes on it blinks.
It does not just stay lit.
All bulbs are factory
I was looking at the wiring diagram again and I found a 4 pin connector that comes off the washer system. It supplies power to the front right signal only.
My splash guard is broken there . There is a lot of dirt inside this plug.
I believe it is shorting power to the right side at this point in the harness.
I did clean the contacts and will leave it unplugged for a few days.
It only affects power to the front turn and not the rear.
But I believe if it's fed power through a short, then it's feeding back through the module and dimmer??
Does this seem right to you?
Thnaks again

When you say you replaced the stalk, you mean a new (or used) multi-function switch? Otherwise, it sounds like you have loose wire (s) on the turn signal post.
Saw something a few years back, where someone had a problem much like yours when the car was struck in front, mashing a wire.

I did replace the multifunction switch.
With a used one. I'm still having the same issues.

Ok, then look for a frayed or mashed wire. Clean the light fixture, separate the wires and trace them back until you find the problem.

I still haven't got to the bottom of this issue.
It seems to be getting worse.
When the right turn signal comes on by itself
I tried disconnecting the turn signal stalk from the harness.
The right signal keeps blinking. So that for sure eliminates the switch being the issue.
I have looked at the schematic and I cannot figure out what would be able to power the turn signal without the switch activating it.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Also, when the turn signal acts up. Sometimes It will not let me signal left or right for a few minutes. Sometimes I signal left and power jumps to the right.
Thanks in advance

Now that you've taken the stalk out of the equation and it still blinks, I'd say it all points to the BPM (body processor module). I looked for one on the shelf the other day at work and 2 of our tester bpm's had said "right turn signal won't blink" written on with a sharpie. One of our other ones had some weird electrical issue written on it. So to me that's what you got going on. Take out your glovebox and there's three 10mm nuts that hold it to the dash board carrier frame. One 10mm bolt holds the electrical harness to the bottom of the BPM. Once the BPM is out, flip it over and locate the part number like LNC2600CE on a yellow tag (yours may vary alittle from that one) and locate one either online or in a junkyard.
