99 XJ8 upstream O2 sensor removal
Hi,
Code 1647 showed up, the dreaded upstream bank 2 o2 sensor is dead. Live data shows 0 volts from the sensor. So i ordered anew one and am trying to get the old one out.
Drain and remove the overflow tank, and the heat shield screws. Easy peasy.
According to posts from TXE36 and Highhorse, the shield should be able to move out of the way to access the sensor.
So far i have been unable to get it moved enough to get the sensor. It will not slide down far, and will not rotate very far. i tried pulling it up , got is as far and the camshaft housing, but would not go further.
People say "move towards transmission" which would be across the car, that does not work.
Does anyone have any tips?

From the "How-To" section at the top of the forum... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...cement-195018/
Remove this hose clamp and pull the hose off. Pull this hose up and out of the way. You’ll have some coolant spill out then but you’ll have a lot more room. BE CAREFUL AS THE NIPPLE OFF THIS VALVE COULD BREAK. Ask me how I know.
