Default How do I get to O2 sensor...

...on the driver's side. I've purchased the new upstream sensor and I've been lucky enough to get the sensor tool on the sensor, but there is no way I can get the ratchet on the tool, much less get my arm up in there (from the bottom) far enough to get the job done...and I can't get to it from the top either.

Anybody done this on the XJ8...how'd you do it?

Take a look at the thread,
V8 O2 sensor changing tips? and the technique described by Icebreaker.
I used a 22 mm crows foot to remove the sensor though a short collar 02 socket SP tools 88750 may have done the job. Found it in the toolbox afterwards! I got it from the Volvo IPD site.
Not difficult, but time consuming.

Ah yes, I see it now. Thanx for pointing that out to me Dan.

I could see that I wanted to remove the heat shield, but I was trying to do so without moving the coolant tank. I guess now I will go back (when it stops raining) at it with a new attitude and determination...and a better plan.

Thanx again Dan.

Are you sure you need a new O2 sensor. My bad O2 sensor code turned out to be a MAFS that needed cleaning. I must say it is a VERY tight spot to get to the O2 sensor.
Good luck.
