ABS/Trac Control warnings

Okay, I’ve read up on this to some degree and I’m stuck.
replaced all wheel sensors, replaced ABS module, replaced battery and now the warning lights are terry much still on, with the exception of on occasion.
I have had a J- Gate issue since I got the car…you have to run it almost all the way around to get into drive, but that’s been the case for about two years now.
When I start the car, most of the time it’s just the ABS light and no flashing traction control warning UNTIL I put it in gear.
Does the gear selector engage the ABS, or is there something in there causing my issue? I saw someone had mentioned that in another thread, but I’ve seen so much on this I’m not sure what to think.
Is it possible the actual pump is failing since it’s kind of intermittent?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Reading the 'C' (chassis) codes is going to go a long way to diagnosing your issues. (or you can throw parts at it)

I swapped DTC guide because I posted for the XK8 4.2 not XJ8.
Sorry

Now all you need is a code reader that does all the systems; not just the ECU. I use an Autel MX808; it does them all; it even tells me that the driver's seatbelt potentiometer is out, whatever that is.

I was going to try and summarize this but my technical writing editorial skills aren't that great:

"Seat belt tension is determined by measuring the resistance of a flexible potentiometer which is deformed to produce a controlled change in resistance with increased belt tension. A seat belt mounting has a spring which allows limited extension of the seat belt in response to belt tension. A flexible potentiometer is mounted to the spring so that spring deformation produces a change in resistance which can be directly correlated to belt tension. Belt tension is input to an airbag deployment logic which may incorporate a seat position sensor, a weight-on-seat sensor and various other sensors which detect the existence, size and direction of any crash. The logic draws conclusions from the tension sensor in the seat belt and other sensors to determine if deployment of the front passenger airbag is likely to be advantageous to an occupant of the front passenger seat."

After a couple of days of driving the car, I am convinced that there is a connection between my problematic J-Gate shifter and my intermittent ABS fault. Does anyone know what that connection/association may be?
Sometimes if I catch it just right, I can run the shifter all the way around to 2nd gear, take off and then put into drive and the ABS light goes out and no warning lights. Al clear. Then I can stop the car and when I get back in, I can’t even get the car into reverse without the warning coming on again.
Perplexed, to say the least.

The selector lever illumination module is a 'listen only node' on the CAN bus.
No DTCs from it but it does affect the CAN bus if it malfunctions or the D4 switch is faulty or INOP.

Are the switches you mention located in the J gate shifter?
