ABS Light

ABS Light
When starting the car, my ABS light remains on, yet the ABS seems to be working. I am also getting a traction control failure on the information screen. I can understand why the traction control might not work, if the ABS fails, but it appears the ABS is working....I'm stumped.....Thanks....Mike

Where is the ABS control module located? My son builds and services computers at his store, so he should have no problem repairing soldier joints. He learned all this from being a spook in the Navy for 10 years. One of those jobs that causes my imminent demise if he tells me what he did. Another perk I guess.
I supply him with tyres, control units, and tuner parts, for his cars, that I get when I buy something at an insurance auction.
I just fell in love with these Jaguars. I like them better than the Rolls I had. They are much lighter, better on Petrol, they handle, and there are more used spares for them......Thanks in advance....Mike

+1 on checking the battery first.
Also, try cleaning the wheel speed sensors if the ABS/TRAC light warnings are coming on. Look here for how to: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ors-faq-37434/
Always check the easy stuff first. Plenty of threads on this issue.
The good news is the bad ABS control module solder fix is certainly a DIY project.

For the first time my ABS light stayed on after staring the car, I shut the car off and restarted but the light still stayed on, so thinking I'd have a new issue to work on today I started to drive home, in less than 100 feet the ABS light cleared and never came back on.
Any idea why this would happen? Seem if it was the wheel sensors it would not have come on at start up and then cleared when I started to drive.

Thanks for the info Jag#4.....I will do that today. Sure looks easier than removing the black box and soldering the board, as a first step. It would make sense for me too, considering my car came from a rural area. It is actually the first car I needed to vacuum hay out of. I will probably need to beat the aluminium wheels off, and coat the contact points with a moly compound, to save me trouble in the future.
I spent about 2 hours detailing the engine last night, and am going to try to find the fault with the evap circuit also today. Hope it is an easy one, like a corroded connector, split hose, or a solenoid with an open winding.....
Thanks to all of you!.....Mike

I have same problem with the ABS/traction failure orange light. Car is running fine. Dealer said orange light is a warning, red light means immediate attention needed. He also said, he thinks these fault lights appear after a certain amount of miles to get people in for service and unnessary chrges. Who know? All i know is i dont want to have a problem, so i am at the dealers mercy.

You said dealer, not sure who he is but cars do not randomly turn on lights for service costs to rise. If the lights for warnings comes on something needs attention and should be addressed, nothing wrong no lights.
