abs warning and trac/and asc failure light on
I've had the same thing 3 times now, and it's always correlated to hitting a pothole. I guess I may have a slightly loose connector somewhere that gets upset when the wheel (always the left front) goes down a hole in the road (There are lots here in Cali)
The fix is the same everytime. Stop at the next traffic light (again, there are many in Cali). Switch off, restart and all is well again.

The connector is a possiblity, also a bad wheel bearing can cause this. Wheel bearings fail regularly on the XJ and XK models. We sell the nut removal tool for $150. Also, a bad ABS sensor could be at fault. They are expensive, but don't worry, we don't sell many of those. Start with your wiring idea. It's least expensive.

Thanks for your input.
I've had this warning come up sometimes with my last 3 XJRs, at first it worried me, now I just ignore it, since it goes away when you stop and restart, and ABS worked normally (I did a test on a gravel surface and it chuntered away happily). But I'm no expert, so get it checked just to be sure.

Actually it was 2007 but I only joined the forum to see if there was a remedy for an annoying warning, and I'm sure there are other CURRENT owners with same problem. Your comment was irrelevant and a bit irritating and a bad start to my joining the forum.
Error lights came on and stayed on. Using ICARSOFT V2 diagnostics tool while wifey drove, all sensors appear to be correctly reading wheel speed. I guess I need a replacement ABS module.
Well known issue with these modules is that the solder on the circuit board fails and causes an abs pump failure DTC code in the diagnostics tool. What code did you get? its a relatively easy but involved (multi-step) problem to solve and you gotta be comfortable with bleeding brakes, handy with a dremel, and ok-ish at soldering.
What scanner tool will work on that year and model. I have a 1998 Jaguar xj8
Well Vinman...it really depends on what level of diagnostic data you require. In some
cases a simple ELM327 with an app you have selected for your phone will do and in other
cases a member may need more specific data to discern a given problem.
