Talking ac charge

98 xj8

the system was evacuated a while back while the car had a major engine overhaul so now im vacuuming the whole system and im having trouble finding the correct ports.
while looking online i found this diagram and i got a couple of questions for you xj8 gurus.
are the ports labeled backwards?
how much freeon does the system take?
28oz?
what pressures should i look for while refilling with outside temperatures?
30-40 psi on low pressure side?
what about high pressure side?

The system takes 650-700 grams of R134a. Freon is the old name for R12 which is no longer used.
You are looking at about 50psi low side and up to about 250psi high side.

JTIS section 412.00 has the AC information. Attached is the ambient temp chart clipped from it. Temperature makes a huge difference.

The drawing legend appears correct.

Definitely use a manifold gauge set to charge it properly. You can get them pretty cheap now....

JTIS has graphs for the ambient temperature versus pressure, don't have JTIS handy now otherwise I would post it....

After I tuned my Jag A/C up properly; 85 degrees outside, driving down the road, my AC vents were blowing 37 degree air out... :-)
