Default AJ-V8 the same in Ford and Lincoln?

Okay, so I know the AJ-V8 engine was used in the X308s, and also was used in the Ford Thunderbird and Lincoln LS. If I need replacement engine parts (cylinder head and gaskets), am I good to use Ford or Lincoln parts, or are they different? What are the differences between the AJ-V8 in the Jags vs Fords? Thanks.

While engine is same, head gaskets and timing chain components are different. Thunderbird I think used a double row chain, not exchangeable.
the gaskets thogh from a Landover V8 do work and so do the head bolts. Much cheaper than the jag ones but you need a different tool to tighten them RIBE drive. Much nicer than the 13MM.

I haven't seen a LS or Thunderbird head but I know the head gaskets are different. If I remember the water passages for the Ford were smaller than the Jaguar head gaskets.

There are similarities between the Jaguar and the Ford, but to my knowledge, there is no direct transition of parts.
Not knowing what year you have, I used 2000 as reference and brought this up, pricing is reasonable... https://www.bing.com/shop?q=2000+Jag...344551D6533F06

Hi imageoftheson,

Rock Auto is a great place to compare parts for the Lincoln LS and Jaguar X308. For example, the same camshaft (valve) cover gasket set is shown for both engines (Mahle part number VS50397), the same timing cover gasket set (Mahle part number JV5084), the same intake manifold gasket set (Mahle MS19440), and the same water pump (Airtex AW4124). Same price regardless of which car you order them for.

Since the Ford/Lincoln engine is just 3.9L compared to the Jaguar's 4.0L, the similarities must end somewhere, perhaps at the crankshaft, piston connecting rods, etc.

Cheers,

Don
