all vents blowing hot and cool at the same time.
hello, fellow Jag lovers: Got a huge problem, the ac vents are blowing hot and cool air at the same time (intermittently)
1. have checked for error codes in the ac control panel and the ecm. no faults found
2. I can run it today and it will be 100 degrees outside, and blowing hot as it can even on lo or 60 degrees no matter what setting I use.
drove home put in the garage for say a hour, and went back out started it up and it ran as cold as can be.
what am I over looking?
PLEASE HELP ITS WAY TOO HOTT OUTSIDE FOR THIS TO BE HAPPENING...LOL

Your problem is the 'blend door' that controls the mix of warmed and cooled air. A common problem is that insulation has come loose and is interfering with the door operation. It has been reported that the insulation can be fished out with long handled pliers.

That thread provides information on scanning the climate control codes and removing the dash if that is required.

My problem was the heater shut off solenoid - left side under coolant expansion tank. if solenoid does not close water, the heater will run all the time - you will feel hot air as well as cold air coming from vents
thinking it might not be a blender door. ac is charged and lines are cold and hot like normal. when I cycle through all the settings they all move accordingly, is there some sort of heater valve that might be stuck? any help would be greatly appreciated.thank you.
valve is controlled by a solenoid - it is in the normally open position -and closes when power is applied - THIS is why when you start your car, nothing comes out of the vents until it is stabilized and the latent heat from heater core has been dispersed.
Location - left chassis rail, close to firewall in engine compartment below ECU compartment - also need to remove coolant expansion tank -
easy to test - start car, select cold on air/con - dont remove anything - locate control valve and solenoid - touch both sides, if they are both hot - you found your problem. I had the problem after installing an engine - a wire was broken -

thank you so much for the information... I did the test and as you said it was hot on both sides... decided to take the heater valve out of the car. (after I saw the prices we decided to take it apart and see what the problem was. as figured it was a bit built up with a little sludge. cleaned it up and stuck it back in car. works like a champ... it was a bit of a job to take it apart. but, it was better than spending 300.00 or more for a new one. lol thank you again for all your help. till the next time.
