Default Automatic Door Lock Deactivation on XJ8

How does one disable the auto-lock feature on a 2001 XJ8 VDP? Thanks

Not 100% sure, but I think it is part of the programmeable options from the dealer and can be switched off.
You will need to hook it up to the dealer diagnostic system to get it changed, unless you know someone who can get into the cars brain.

Hope this helps.

Several features can be enabled/disabled with PDU/WDS/IDS in the 'setup and configuration' tab.
'Drive-away locking' is one of the configurable features.

Default auto door lock de-activate

Wait, wait !! Are we to believe that there is NO WAY to de-activate the automatic door lock function (at 5 to 15 mph), WITHOUT going to Jag dealer for service ??? Preposterous! No fiercely independent and self-reliant country like the UK is going to stand for such rubbish!!

Any assistance to a "Geezer" with no kids who HATES being "locked down" when he shifts into Drive and engages that Supercharger ??? EHT

OK, I am (as usual) confused. Here is what I found in a response to my original 2003 XJR question on defeating "nanny state" auto door locks:
Jaguar X-Type Security

Selecting Unlocking Modes

The Jaguar X-Type has two locking/unlocking modes single stage and two stage. The two stage mode for security will only unlock the drivers side door when the key is turned once or the un-lock button is pressed once on the key fob.
The procedure for changing from single-stage to two-stage unlocking, or vice versa, is as follows:-
Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the key fob simultaneously for four seconds. The indicators will flash twice to confirm the procedure was successful. To revert to the previous state at any time repeat the procedure again.

This is "X-Type," and talks about "single-stage" and "two-stage." I just want to STOP the car from locking me in when I engage "D" (and thus obviating lock when I open my door to get out.) JUST LEAVE ME ALONE to LOCK/UN-LOCK when I WANT !!! (2003 XJR ...83MF50806) Thanks in advance !!
